11. player. 38. If you asked me to name a prospect that I’m most intrigued by their potential and what they become in the NBA, former Notre Dame point guard Demetrius Jackson is right near the top of the list. While I don’t think he’s quite as talented, I really think that Jackson could wind up being a poor man’s version of Russell Westbrook after a couple of years in the NBA.
Jackson was obviously productive during his junior year—his final season—with the Fighting Irish as he led his team on a deep run through March Madness. He did it all from the point guard position as he averaged 15.8 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game. He’s not the other worldly athlete that Russ is, but he’s still crazy athletic. However, the biggest part of that comp comes the relentless way Jackson attacks on both ends of the floor.

Watching Westbrook play, it’s just incredible how balls-to-the-wall he is from the opening tip to the final buzzer, for better or worse. I can really see Jackson coming in and developing into that type of player. With the backcourt still curiously in flux with the Magic, Jackson could make a lot of sense and is something that I’d like to see.
. PG. Notre Dame. Demetrius Jackson
