Kris Dunn. 6. player. 69. In terms of teams that I would much rather see drafting a point guard, though, that’s where the New Orleans Pelicans undoubtedly come into play. This is a team that had a ton of expectations in the preseason and that had many people thinking that Anthony Davis could be in the MVP conversation with the arrival of Alvin Gentry as the new head coach. Things obviously played out much differently than expected considering that they’re picking at the No. 6 slot in the draft.

Obviously injuries played a huge part in the Pelicans’ struggles this past season, but one of their glaring weaknesses even before then was their lack of quality depth at the point guard position. That’s a spot where Providence guard Kris Dunn could slot it and absolutely make a difference right away.

Objectively, Kris Dunn might be my favorite player in this entire draft. Throughout his tenure with the Friars, he proved that he’s a player that can quite literally do it all on both ends of the floor. He has the ability to score from anywhere on the floor which is only aided by the fact that he’s a big guy for his position. That size also helps him to make trouble on defense. Given the health concerns always present with Jrue Holiday and the need for depth regardless, Dunn to the Pels almost makes too much sense.
. PG. Providence
