After Bender and Luwawu, the international prospect that really catches the eye of a lot of scouts the most is the big Turkish shooting guard, Furkan Korkmaz. Though he hasn’t seen the floor much while playing overseas for Anadolu Efes for the past two seasons, what he has shown is more than promising and has indicated to many that he has a ton of upside as an NBA player.

Korkmaz played in only 19 games in the Euroleague last season and averaged fewer than 10 minutes per game. However, he showed that he could knock down shots with tremendous proficiency from long range, something he’s done the past two years. He shot over 40 percent from deep both this past season and the year before. When you consider that, the size he has at the two-guard as he stands at a long 6-7, and the fact that he’ll still only be 18 years old at the time of the draft, that’s a highly intriguing prospect.

The Grizzlies perpetually have needed help on the wing, but are in an odd position in this draft to try and find it. As such, taking a player with the upside of Korkmaz and getting him in their system feels like the right move.
