A player who has been garnering a lot of deserved buzz over the past few weeks and then continued to get more buzz at the NBA Draft Combine is former Florida State guard Malik Beasley. The 19-year-old from Alpharetta, GA has impressed scouts at each workout with the skills and tools that he’s been able to showcase and has almost surely secured himself a spot in the first round.

In his lone season with Florida State, Beasley produced at a high level in the 34 games that he played. Beasley put up 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.9 steals in 29.8 minutes per game. What you really have to like if you’re a pro team or a scout is the efficiency that the youngster scored with as a Seminole, shooting 47.1 percent from the floor and a solid 38.7 percent from long-range.

With solid length to help him compensate for being a bit small at the position and with nice athleticism, Beasley has a unique and valuable blend of physical tools and skill that could make him a three-and-D guy in the NBA sooner rather than later. As such, taking him at 24 if you’re the 76ers and need guards seems too easy.
