As far as basketball crushes go, Kris Dunn has had me feeling like the nerdy girl in every 90s teen romantic comedy whenever the jock walks into the classroom for quite some time now. Dunn could have left the Providence Friars last year after his sophomore campaign, but wanted to go back and further build on his game and he did that undeniably.
During his junior year with the Friars, Dunn tore it up as he averaged 16.4 points, 6.2 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. Moreover, he also shot a respectable 44.8 percent from the floor and 37.2 percent from long range on the year. Coming into this draft, there’s no point guard even close to having the versatility, playmaking, two-way ability, and upside that Dunn does going into the NBA. He has every bit the look of a player that could contribute to most teams in the league in some way immediately.
The Celtics are faced with an interesting decision at No. 3 and, when it comes down to it, I think they might be trading it to try and get a proven star. However, I still think Dunn is the third best player in this draft and that Boston is in the position to take best available if they keep the selection.
