Offense
What Kris Dunn brings to the table as an offensive player is impossible not to love. Perhaps his greatest asset is his ability as a playmaker and facilitator. As a sophomore with Providence, Dunn had an assist percentage (the ratio of teammates made field goals that were assisted by Dunn when he was on the floor) of an absurd 50 percent. That dipped a bit as a junior, but was still quite impressive with a mark of over 41 percent.
However, Dunn brings more than that as an NBA Draft prospect as he’s also more than capable of scoring in a variety of ways. He shot over 35 percent from three over his career with the Friars and saw that mark climb to over 37 percent as a junior. Moreover, the long and tall guard showed he was also capable of attacking off of the dribble and finishing at or around the rim.
Dunn is arguably the most complete backcourt player in the 2016 NBA Draft in terms of what he can do offensively. He returned to Providence for a third full season to become a more complete player and its paid tremendous dividends. For teams in this draft in need of a leader that can do it all when their team has the ball, there aren’t many players that can boast the skill set of Dunn—especially at his position.
