Jodie Meeks (2014)

The Lakers gave fans very little to cheer about in the 2013-14 season. After rupturing his Achilles tendon in April of 2013, Bryant returned for only six games before injuring his knee and missing the remainder of the 2013-14 season. Six games.

They finished the season winning only 27 games, which was the the worst in *Los Angeles Lakers franchise history at the time. Now fans dream of a 27-win season. There were a few bright spots, however, like Nick Young and Jodie Meeks.

More from Lake Show Life

Young signed a four-year, $21 million contract with the Laker the following summer while Meeks signed a three-year, $19 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, where he struggled with nagging injuries before getting traded to the Orlando Magic.

Three years later, Young is participating in the three-point contest on Saturday night and is having one of the best seasons of his career. Meeks, on other hand, is still struggling with injuries and will have to fight for his NBA life this summer.

While fans are hoping Meeks gets on the track soon, they can’t help but wish he had participated in the three-point contest when he had the chance. In the 2013-14 season, Meeks was a lights out shooter from behind the arc.

Meeks was one of only 10 players in the league that shot above 40 percent from deep while attempting more than five 3-pointers per game. The others? Kyle Korver, Steph Curry, Klay Thomspon,  Jose Calderon, Joe Johnson, Ryan Anderson, Trevor Ariza, Carmelo Anthony and Gerald Green. One current Laker and two former Lakers. Unless you count #FutureLaker Carmelo Anthony.

Maybe Meeks re-signs with the Purple and Gold this summer and gets another shot at the 3-point contest, but my guess is probably not.
