After a great 2016-17 season, the Utah Jazz are hoping to take the next step for next season. While signing Gordon Hayward is the most important thing for them this offseason, they also have the chance to improve in the NBA Draft. With two picks in the first round, the Jazz are certainly players in a deep and talented draft class.
With the 24th pick in the mock draft, the Jazz will be selecting forward Tyler Lydon. Even though it was a disappointing season for Syracuse, Lydon was certainly a bright spot. Last season, Lydon averaged 13.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game.
At 6’10” Lydon was able to stretch the floor for the Syracuse offense, as he shot 39.2% from three-point range. With his size, Lydon figures to be a perfect stretch power forward. However, he can also play some small forward because of his quickness. With Rudy Gobert in the middle, having a stretch forward like Lydon would be a perfect match on paper.
Last season, the Jazz were one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. However, they really struggled at times on the offensive end of the court. Adding a shooter like Lydon would be a big help to the Jazz space the floor.
