Orlando Magic

The Magic are currently a team without any direction. They had a bizarre offseason last year, acquiring veterans, but seeming to not have a plan in place. They traded a draft pick and Victor Oladipo away for Serge Ibaka, and then signed Bismack Biyombo, Jeff Green, and D.J. Augustin.

The results were not pretty. The Magic finished the season 29-53 in their first season under Frank Vogel. The botched offseason, which has become a trend in Orlando, led to general manager Rob Hennigan losing his job. The Magic are now under new management with John Hammond running the show.

Orlando has to figure out what direction they want to go in. They have some intriguing young talent in Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic, Elfrid Payton, and Mario Hezonja. Evan Fournier has also developed nicely in Orlando. Clarkson would present the Magic with another young building block that is locked up for another three seasons. He would bring some of the same qualities that the team lost when they traded away Oladipo.

Orlando will have some cap space this summer. If Clarkson is someone they are interested in, they may be able to hold onto their assets by taking someone such as Luol Deng or Timofey Mozgov off the Lakers hands.

If the Lakers are going to move Clarkson, ridding themselves of a bad contract could be a motivating factor behind it. Orlando is one team that could absorb one of those bad contracts in addition to taking on Clarkson.
