Randle has developed into a much better passer over the course of the last two seasons. In the 2015-2016 season the Dallas native averaged 1.8 assists per game, whereas this year he was able to rack up a solid 3.6 assists per game, thus providing just under two more assists this season than the one prior.
Moreover, Randle’s assist percentage which calculates the amount of teammate field goals Randle assisted while on the floor increased by 8.4 percent this season with an assist percentage of 19.5 percent as opposed to 11.1 percent the previous season. Therefore, it is evident that Randle has enhanced his ability to create shots for his teammates.
Additionally, despite his increased number of assists, Randle turned the ball over an average of 2.3 times per game this season compared to 1.8 turnovers per game in his 2015-2016 campaign. This means that per 100 possessions, Randle would have turned the ball over on roughly 13 possessions this year in comparison to turning the ball over on 12 of every 100 possessions last season. An increase in turnovers is most likely a result of Randle’s increasing role as a facilitator for the team, meaning he spends more time with the ball in his hands.
