BYU Point Guard, L.J. Rose
Of all of the players coming in for the workout Friday, Rose is least likely to be drafted. He is not on Chad Ford’s top 100 prospects big board and is very unlikely to be selected by the Lakers, or any team for that matter, in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Rose has good size for a point guard, as he is listed at 6-feet-4 inches tall. The biggest knock against Rose is his extensive injury history. He has broken the same foot three times, as his durability is a real concern. Can he handle the rigors of an NBA season without suffering another injury?
Rose spent three seasons at Houston after playing his freshman year at Baylor. Houston’s head coach, Kelvin Sampson, spoke highly of Rose. He said that Rose is a leader and hard worker, things you like to hear about players. There is no doubting Rose’s character, as he never gave up despite all of the problems he had with his foot.
His final collegiate season would be played at BYU. He appeared in the first 25 games of the season before needing to undergo knee surgery, which caused him to miss the final nine games of the season.
The injury concerns are real for Rose. He is facing an uphill battle, but performing well in these workouts will help him get noticed by teams around the league.
