South Carolina Shooting Guard, P.J. Dozier

Dozier is entering the NBA Draft after helping lead South Carolina on an improbable run in the NCAA Tournament. Dozier is an intriguing prospect because he has some things at his disposal that you just cannot teach.

One of those things is his size. Standing 6-feet-7 inches tall, Dozier possesses a wingspan of nearly 7-feet. That kind of size could be a real difference maker defensively, especially when he is playing point guard. Dozier showcased an ability to run an offense, sometimes moving over to point guard with South Carolina.

If he can hone his point guard skills, he will be difficult to stop. He is very athletic, giving him another potential edge at point guard. His size gives him plenty of versatility, as he can defend three positions already.

So, why isn’t he higher on draft boards? Because he has some ways to go offensively. He can score from virtually everywhere on the court but does not do it efficiently. He made only 40.7 percent of his shots as a sophomore after making 38.1 percent as a freshman. His three-point shooting and free throw percentage leave a lot to be desired as well, as he shot 29.8 and 59.7 percent as a sophomore respectively.

If there is one positive to take away from the shooting percentages is that they improved from his freshman to sophomore season. Could he make another jump as a rookie in the NBA? Dozier has loads of potential and is someone that could be a steal later on in the draft.
