Mike Muscala

The 25, soon to be 26-year-old big man played 70 games for the Atlanta Hawks this past season. He averaged 6.2 points and 3.4 rebounds in just under 18 minutes of action per game.

Muscala is unlikely to make a major impact on the defensive end, as opponents shot around 5% better from the field overall while being guarded by the Bucknell product. His defensive field goal percentages are particularly poor from 5-9 feet from the basket where opponents converted around 18-21% better than the average from this distance when guarded by Muscala.

This said Muscala allowed only a sliver over the league average field goal percentage from further than 15 feet from the basket. Although not great, it does indicate that he may have some potential guarding players further from the basket, particularly from mid-range.

Muscala’s greatest asset for the team would be his ability to space the floor, as he knocked down an extremely solid 41.8 % of his threes this past season, albeit on a small sample size of 1.6 per game.

Thus, if he is willing to consider leaving his home in Atlanta where he has been since his rookie campaign in the 2013-2014 NBA season, he may be a target for the Lakers this off-season if the price is right.
