After a good season in Oklahoma City without Kevin Durant, the Thunder are no trying to build around Russell Westbrook. Last season, Westbrook had one of the best regular seasons of all-time. However, that wasn’t enough for him to get past the Houston Rockets in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs.

With a clear need for help, the Thunder selected shooting guard Terrance Ferguson. As a prospect, many fans might not know Ferguson. However, he would have likely been one of the best players in college basketball last season. However, he decided to play professionally in Australia instead. Like some before him, Ferguson didn’t perform that well overseas on a consistent basis.

Playing professional basketball overseas has made Ferguson a better player, and he will be able to help contribute on the Thunder. At 6’7” Ferguson is a great defender with his length. Also, he showed an ability to knock down three-pointers at a high clip.

Considering the struggles that the Thunder had trying to hit open three-pointers on Westbrook passes, Ferguson could fit well in Oklahoma City. Add the fact that he can play defense well, and the Thunder have themselves a good pick. Getting a good supporting cast around Westbrook is very important for the Thunder, as they don’t want to see him leave too.
