One of the best teams to be drafted by is without a doubt the San Antonio Spurs. Despite being one of the best teams in the league, the Spurs frequently find great players late in the draft. With a great coach and front office, the Spurs are able to find and develop talent with the best of them in the NBA.

With the 29th pick in the first round, the Spurs selected guard, Derrick White. Prior to last season, nobody had heard of White. He wasn’t playing Division 1 basketball, and the NBA seemed like an impossible dream.

White went on to transfer to Colorado last season, and he thrived. He was able to average 18.1 points, 4.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game. Few players in the country could fill out a box score like White, and the Spurs might have another steal on their hand.

With a need at the guard positions, White might be asked to step in early in his NBA career. Since Tony Parker is getting older and Manu Ginobili might retire, the Spurs had to get a guard in the draft. White can play both at point and shooting guard. Overall, another strong pick by the Spurs. I know, shocking.
