Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets were another interesting yet confusing team on draft night. With a need for a playmaker, preferably at the guard position, they went in a different direction completely. They had a potential deal with the Phoenix Suns that would have sent Eric Bledsoe to Denver in exchange for Emmanuel Mudiay and the 13th overall pick, but hesitated and didn’t make the move.
Instead, the Nuggets chose forward Tyler Lydon (13.2pts, 8.6reb) from Syracuse. This came after trading for Trey Lyles (6.2pts, 3.3reb) from Utah. To land Lyles, the Nuggets traded the 13th pick and moved back to 24, where they picked Lydon. With
With the potential to be a solid player at the next level, Lydon showed inconsistency during his time with the Orange. It was interesting the Nuggets selected another forward and traded for another considering how many forwards are already on the current roster and the similar skill sets they possess.
This signals the inevitable that Danilo Gallinari is most likely on his way out of Denver. He has a player option that he has yet to accept or decline. Also, with forwards Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler, Juan Hernangómez, and Darrell Arthur, it is yet to be seen who else will be on their way out of Denver due to this roster log jam. After a confusing draft night, it’s time for the Nuggets to make some roster moves to help it all make sense.
