Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers were big winners before the 2017 NBA Draft even began. The 76ers dipped into their war chest of draft picks and assets to move up to the No.1 pick in a trade with the Boston Celtics. The 76ers traded the No. 3 pick and a future first rounder that may not be sent to Boston for a few years in exchange for the No. 1.
With the No. 1 pick, the 76ers added another young, uber talented player to the roster in Washington point guard, Markelle Fultz. Fultz was a perfect fit for the 76ers, and will join Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons to create one of the best young cores in the NBA. The 76ers did not stop there, though.
Philadelphia made up for passing on Kristaps Porzingis two years ago for Jahlil Okafor by taking Anzejs Pasecniks, who is considered a poor man’s Porzingis. The 76ers could stash him overseas, where Mathias Lessort will have time to develop as well.
The 76ers made two more second round picks in addition to Lessort. They landed another athletic, playmaking wing player in Jonah Bolden with the 36th pick. Three picks later, the 76ers landed scoring point guard, Jawun Evans.
Philadelphia had an outstanding night with just Fultz. Adding all of the other talents was just icing on the cake for a 76ers team that is rounding into shape with a bright future.
