Lopez, run baby! You’re a stretch big. This is perfect. Lonzo should set be able to utilize him better than any other player on the roster. After experiencing one of his better seasons in Brooklyn, his game has expanded to fit the modern mold of the NBA. As it stands right now, no matter how strange it sounds, Lopez is one of the best three-point shooters on the Lakers currently. This added element to his game will inevitably help Ball during his rookie year, allowing spacing as defenders will be forced to respect the range in Brook’s offensive game.
On the other side, it cannot be overstated the potential defensively that he brings, especially in pick and roll situations. During his rookie season, analogous to college, Ball will definitely struggle defensively in pick and roll situations. Now, he enters the league covering faster guards with better talent. Analysis: Lonzo will need help. This is an opportunity for Lopez to step in defensively and use his lateral quickness to mitigate Ball’s flaws in pick in roll situations.
