Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Reasons why D’Angelo Russell will succeed with Nets
By Nick Ziegler
– You’re the guy
As Russell comes to Brooklyn, he will be joining a somewhat crowded backcourt in Brooklyn. Last season, the Nets drafted Isaiah Whitehead from Seton Hall, and then also signed Jeremy Lin in free agency.
As a second round pick, Whitehead didn’t light it up in his rookie season, but he did do well when given a chance. The main competition for usage and possibly minutes for Russell will be Lin.
Lin’s first season in Brooklyn did not go well. After being their biggest offseason move, Lin struggled to stay healthy last season, and that was one of the reasons why the Nets had the worst record in the NBA. When he was on the court, Lin played well for the Nets, sadly, he just never could get healthy.

As arguably the best two players on the team, Russell and Lin will have to make it work on the court together. While Lin has been around longer, this team could be Russell’s for the taking. If he plays more than 30 minutes a night, Russell has a very good chance to average 20 points per game. Even though he is a young player, the Nets could very well be Russell’s team by the end of the season.
