Josh Hart; Shooting Guard
The Lakers selected Villanova shooting guard Josh Hart with the 30th overall pick, the final one in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft. The Lakers got quite the player in Hart, who brings a lot to like to a team.
On the court, Hart does it all. He can score, as he made at least 50 percent of his shots all four seasons at Villanova. He can knock down three-pointers. Hart rebounds very well for a guard and is a very good distributor as well. Possibly the best attribute that Hart brings to the court is his defense.
Hart is a tenacious defender. He can defend either backcourt spot and always brings it. It is a hard worker with a very high basketball IQ, which helps him make up for his lack of athleticism. Hart also brings a winning mentality with him from his time at Villanova and should not be phased by the bright lights of the summer league and Los Angeles.
Hart was an excellent selection by the Lakers. He could be the starting shooting guard some the regular season. At worst, he should have a role off the bench as a combo guard. He can play alongside any other guards on the roster, providing Luke Walton with some versatility and flexibility in his lineups.
