*Update: Kyle Kuzma has been announced out tonight vs the Kings with cramps.*

One of the bright spots for the Lakers in the Summer League so far has been rookie Kyle Kuzma. After taking Kuzma with the 27th overall pick out of Stanford, he is living up to the hype of being a first-round pick.

In the loss against the Clippers, Kuzma didn’t get the start in his Summer League debut, but he played big minutes off of the bench. Kuzma totaled 27 minutes, nine points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block. Kuzma shot the ball well from the field as he went three-for-eight overall. However, he missed all three of his three-point attempts.

Against the Celtics, Kuzma ended up getting the start over Travis Wear, and he performed even better. In the loss, Kuzma totaled a team-high 31 points on 12-for-26 shooting from the field. What was extremely impressive for Kuzma was that he shot five-for-10 from beyond the arc. Add in nine rebounds, and Kuzma had Laker Nation very excited to see what’s next. While Kuzma might not drop 31 on the Kings, he has really impressed so far in Summer League. With a chance for minutes in the regular season, Kuzma is certainly making a strong impression on the coaching staff.
