Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Takeaways from win vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Kuzma continues to provide offense
The success of Lonzo Ball has really overshadowed how well his fellow first-round pick, Kyle Kuzma, has played in the Summer League. Coming out of Utah, Kuzma was a very good player in college. However, we have seen him really look like a great scorer in the Summer League.
After coming off the bench in the first game, Kuzma exploded when he entered the starting lineup against the Boston Celtics. In that game, Kuzma totaled 31 points and shot five-for-10 from beyond the arc. If not for Ball’s 36-point performance a few games later, Kuzma’s great performance would have likely been talked about more.
In the win against the Cavaliers, Kuzma may not have scored 31 points, but he did lead the way for Lakers. Kuzma was able to total 20 points on seven-for-14 shooting, including going four-for-eight from deep.
The chemistry that Kuzma and Ball have together after just a few games is certainly encouraging for the Lakers. While Kuzma likely won’t be in the starting lineup with Ball come the regular season, he is proving that he can be a valuable weapon off of the bench for the Lakers. As a power forward that can shoot three-pointers, Kuzma will certainly have an important role moving forward.
