Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Takeaways from win vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
By Nick Ziegler
Ball can play great without shooting well
One of the biggest takeaways from the Lakers win over the Cavaliers was the performance of Lonzo Ball. In the win, Ball was able to record his second triple-double of the Summer League. While Ball did score 16 points, it didn’t come very efficiently. Ball shot just six-for-20 from the field, which is obviously a poor percentage.
For some players, a poor shooting day would result in a poor game. However, Ball does so much more than just score. Even though he shot the ball poorly, he was able to total 12 assists, 10 rebounds, five steals and two blocks.
While his play on the offensive end has received most of the attention, Ball has been playing very well on the defensive end. Ball’s ability to get into passing lanes and make plays off the ball has helped create easy offense for the Lakers in transition.

As a rookie, Ball will have his tough nights on the offensive end shooting the basketball. However, he is proving that he has what it takes to still have an impact on the game even if he isn’t shooting well. This ability for Ball shows that he can be a special player in the NBA on an off night.
