Lakers All-Time Team Snub No. 3: A.C. Green

The Iron Man himself finds himself on the snub list for the Lakers All-Time team. A big reason for him not making the original team is the competition at the forward spots. Kobe Bryant and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the starting forwards. The bench isn’t too shabby with Elgin Baylor, James Worthy and Pau Gasol there.

However, Green has a case to make this team. For starters, he is as durable a player as the NBA has ever seen. He missed only three games his whole career, even playing in 83 regular season games in 1996-97.

Green was a steady player for the Lakers and was an integral part of three championship winning teams. In those championship seasons, Green started 59 out of 65 games, including all 23 as a 36-year old on the 2000 title team.

In his Lakers career, Green averaged 10.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. He was a solid defender, being named to the All-Defensive Second Team for the 1988-89 season. He was also named an All-Star for the 1989-90 season.

Green also finds himself on some of the Lakers all-time lists on Basketball Reference. Green is second in offensive rebounds, sixth in defensive rebounds and ninth in total rebounds in Lakers history. He is also 10th in both games played and steals while ranking second in offensive rating.
