Draining it from deep

Only a 30 percent shooter from deep through three years of college, in Summer League Kuzma shot an absurd 48 percent from the three-point line. Doing so through an NBA season would place him among the greatest shooters in league history. So we (and Kuzma) need to temper our expectations a bit.

Still, his performance demonstrated he has the ability to knock down the three and hopefully the discipline to take good, quality looks. After the defense, the most important goal is to work on his three-pointers and build on his Summer League success.

3-and-D players are essential in today’s NBA and Kuzma has the basic skill set and natural abilities to give him tremendous potential. His goal for this year should be to shoot an above average percentage from three.

Other than defense there is nothing more important to his game than maintaining and building on his three-point skills. If he shoots as well as his potential indicates, he will be pushing for significant minutes right out of the gate. Watch out, Nance and Randle!!
