Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Top performers from the preseason
By Nick Ziegler
– Jordan Clarkson
One of the players that many have appeared to forget about is Jordan Clarkson. After an offseason of change, Clarkson is one of the few remaining players from last season.
This year, Clarkson will once again be leading the second unit, as he attempts to be in the conversation for the Sixth Man of the Year award. In the preseason, Clarkson was pretty impressive off the bench. Despite Lonzo Ball missing multiple games, Luke Walton elected to start Tyler Ennis rather than take Clarkson out of his normal role.
In the preseason, Clarkson averaged 11.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 19.8 minutes per game. One of Clarkson’s main responsibilities on the team is going to be to provide some scoring off the bench. As a combo guard, Clarkson does have the ability to create for his teammates, but he is more of a scoring guard than a passing guard.
Even though Clarkson is a young player, he is now one of the more experienced players on this Lakers team. With some solid experience in the NBA, Clarkson might be relied on to be one of the top players for the Lakers this season. Even though he will be coming off the bench for likely the entire season, he has a very important role on this team.
