Los Angeles Lakers: 3 standouts from win vs Washington Wizards
Honorable Mentions
Some credit needs to be given to the backcourt duo of Lonzo Ball and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. John Wall and Bradley Beal are one of the best backcourts in the NBA, but Wall and Caldwell-Pope were up for the challenge.
Both players brought it defensively, which is the main area of concern when going against a duo as dynamic as Wall and Beal. Ball had some great plays defensively in the early going, as Wall got off to a very slow start. Caldwell-Pope made them work whenever he was on them, which led to an inefficient night overall.
Offensively, Ball struggled with his shot but he contributed in other ways. He facilitated the offense well, handing out 10 assists, the second consecutive game with double-digit assists. He also pulled down eight rebounds.
Caldwell-Pope scored 14 points and helped in other areas as well. He pulled down six rebounds of his own, also adding five assists and two steals.
Ball and Caldwell-Pope played a great game and it was a big help as they kept pace with Wall and Beal in a big-time matchup.
