Los Angeles Lakers: 3 standouts from win vs Washington Wizards

Julius Randle

Julius Randle has had his shortcomings this season. He has looked uninterested and unmotivated at times, and it has been pointed out. Randle drew the ire of many people, and rightfully so. However, you have to give credit when credit is due and Randle is owed some.

Randle played very well against the Wizards. Arguably the most impressive thing he did was remain ready. Randle did not get into the game into the second half until there was only 8:14 remaining in the fourth quarter. That is something that probably would have annoyed Randle the first game or two of the season; tonight he seemed to use it as motivation.

After being inserted into the game, Randle played so well Luke Walton could not take him out. Randle only came out for the last offensive possession of regulation, but was inserted back in for overtime and made a number of big plays.

Randle knocked down a three-pointer with 20 seconds remaining to cut the Wizards lead to one. He also made what resulted in being the game-winning defensive play, as he blocked John Wall and then had a dunk to put the Lakers up three points.

This was a very encouraging performance from Randle. He looked engaged and played with a ton of energy. He finished the game with 11 points, nine rebounds, one assist and three blocks in 19 minutes.
