Los Angeles Lakers defeat Washington Wizards: 3 Takeaways
By Nick Ziegler
– Randle shines late
After not playing in the first half, it was quite surprising to see Randle’s named called in the second. Larry Nance Jr. was able to total a double-double thanks to a big first half, but it was Randle who played the big minutes down the stretch.
There has been a lot of talk about Randle’s role with the team, as he thought that he would be starting. Now, it appears like he is alright not starting, as he prefers to be on the court at the end of games.
In just 19 minutes, Randle was nearly able to total a double-double of his own, as he finished with 11 points and nine rebounds. Randle made a few key buckets for the Lakers as he hit a three from the top of the key, blocked John Wall on a drive to the basket in overtime, and also slammed home a dunk to give the Lakers a three-point lead late.
Walton’s rotations have been interesting to start the season, as he is clearly trying to find out what works. Even though Randle might not be thrilled with not starting, he certainly produced off the bench for the Lakers in this game.
