– A lot of heart shown

For the second consecutive game, this was a young Lakers team that showed a lot of heart. Against the Pelicans, the Lakers were trailing by over 20 points at one point of the game. While the Lakers were unable to win that game, not waving the white flag when they were down by so much in the third quarter showed a lot of heart.

Against the Wizards, the Lakers didn’t find themselves in nearly as deep of a hole. However, they once again did not let a double-digit lead or a playoff team scare them away. Luke Walton used his very young and small lineup once again down the stretch. With Ball, Caldwell-Pope, Ingram, Kuzma, and Randle, the Lakers were able to pull off an upset and prove to the league that they are not pushovers this season.

With a lot of talk about what Wall was going to do to Lonzo in this game, the Lakers did a really good job making a statement. Wins like this for the Lakers are going to be very important for their growth this season. Seeing how Walton is already using his young players to close out games shows the confidence that he has in them to make plays in crunch time.
