1. Brandon Ingram Wins Most Improved Player of the Year

Read on what this NBA superstar had to say about this young talent:

"“First person I can say, that I can look at [Brandon Ingram and] feel like I’m looking in the mirror…”"

Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant has said that he has seen his game inside of Ingram’s. The former Blue Devil and second overall pick looked like a future scorer and a man who defenses will eventually be planning for. Ingram’s response? He posted one of the absolute worst seasons any top three draft talent can have.

While Durant averaged 20.5 PPG, 43% FG and 87% from the free throw line as a rookie, Ingram could only manage to top 9.4 PPG while shooting 29% from the three and 62% on free throws, nowhere near Durant’s level.

Ingram missed All NBA First Team All-Rookie status, as Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid and Dario Saric took the spotlight. Ingram appeared to be bust by many Lakers fans. As Paul George rumors heated, many wanted him shipped in a package with another player to Indiana for the superstar.

Magic Johnson saw something different, however. Brandon Ingram remained untouchable by Lakers management. He responded:

"“It should make you work even harder. It’s not a burden, but [Magic] put it on you, so you feel like you want to go even harder to show that this is the reason why he said this. For me, my own expectations are higher than what anybody else can say… It’s going to help…”"

Magic Johnson gave Ingram the goal to score at least 20 points a game. Whether he can make the jump is still uncertain, but Ingram is certainly a candidate for a huge comeback season.
