5. Lonzo Ball Wins Rookie of the Year

You had to see this coming. One of the best prospects coming out of the draft, Ball excelled like no other in UCLA. The AP Freshman of the Year averaged 14.6 PPG, 6 RPG, and 7.6 APG. This led to him being selected by the Lakers with the second overall pick.

Lonzo has criticized by many experts. His funky jump shot, $495 ZO2’s, his dad being a loudmouth, trying to duck De’Aaron Fox, and scoring under average have played a part during the offseason. Still, it is Ball’s playmaking ability and the fact that he makes his teammates better that stands out to most people.

Ball will receive more than ample camera time. He stars in a reality TV show, raps behind the scenes, and pops up on Twitter every once in a while.

LaVar Ball expects a huge amount of success from Lonzo, with 50 wins as the bar for his play. LaVar also wants the Lakers to beat the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs. He believes that Ball will play against [(assuming) the Cavaliers?] the Finals and to trout out a similar path to Magic Johnson’s rookie season.

Ball has to play well during his rookie season, but that would be an understatement. What we have decided to compare him to; Jason Kidd. Granted Kidd averaged over 11 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 7.7 APG as a rookie. Kidd also won Rookie of the Year, but Lonzo does have the ability to do the same.

The California-raised Ball has dominated the scene in Chino Hills and UCLA. There is no limit to what Ball can do out on the court. Lonzo should bring the same individual talent towards the NBA as well. Play out a ROTY season, and Paul George should be dwelling on Los Angeles next summer.
