Turnovers

The Lakers played great against a defensively tough Grizzlies team, but their struggles were still highly transparent. The biggest of these struggles is turnovers.

Although the Lakers selfless offense has been a huge plus this year, the team is averaging 17.5 turnovers per game. This is the second highest rate in the league – only behind the Philadelphia 76ers. While high turnovers are expected on a young team, they need to be solved quickly because they lead to other problems.

For the Lakers, the other problem is fastbreak points. Although it is early in the season, the Lakers allow their opponents to score 12.8 fastbreak points on average per game. This places them at the seventh-worst average in the league.

Los Angeles won against the Grizzlies last night, but once again they had 19 turnovers and allowed 20 fastbreak points. If the Lakers hope to continue to win games they need to figure out this turnover issue soon.
