Lonzo Ball Barely Makes Top 10 the Rookie Leaderboard

Hoops Habit has recently posted an update on the NBA Rookie Power Rankings. Unfortunately, Lonzo Ball has dropped from No. 2 to No. 5, to No.10. However, his competition has overtaken him as far as hype concerns go. Here are the four rookies who are currently outpacing Lonzo Ball.

Ben Simmons

The former LSU superstar is currently on a tear in his first professional season. Simmons has taken the point forward position and pushed it to the next level. The Sam Hinkie draft pick is dominating every aspect of the game.

At 6-feet-10 inches tall, Simmons can dominate any smaller matchup. Although he currently does not shoot the ball well, he does not need to. Simmons is more than capable of driving to the rim and scoring over his opponents.

He already has two triple-doubles to begin the season. Ben is currently averaging numbers statistically close to Oscar Robertson’s rookie season. Simmons is scoring 18 a game with 9.4 RPG and 7.8 APG.

With the “Process” in full effect, it seems as if nothing looks like it can pushing Simmons out of full-on beast mode.

De’Aaron Fox

It has not been that long ago when Fox pulled off a tweet when Lonzo Ball decided not to suit up for a Summer League game against him. It also has not been that long since Fox scored 39 points on Lonzo Ball during March Madness.

Since then, Fox was looked upon as a top 5 pick. The Kings took Fox with many others off the board.

Though the wins are not yet coming consistently, Fox has turned into quite the athletic specimen. Consequently, his heroics have led to two straight wins over a powerhouse and rising squad. The Thunder and the 76ers have fallen to Fox’s go-ahead baskets. It wouldn’t surprise me if Fox takes over George Hill’s spot as the top point guard in Sacramento.
