Passing
With Lonzo Ball as the point guard, it is hard not to bring up passing when talking about the Lakers. The team has done a great job of adjusting its passing game and has jumped from being ranked 24th in assists per game last year to 13th this year.
Moreover, the Lakers’ unselfishness has allowed for the scoring to be well dispersed as seven players are averaging double-digit points this season.
The Lakers are averaging 22.5 assists per game. This number is even more significant as sharing the basketball has allowed for more fastbreak opportunities. The team is averaging 14.9 fastbreak points per game which put them in the third spot in the league – only behind Denver and Golden State.
The Lakers finished their game on Sunday night with a season-high 36 assists. This was the second time that the team reached the 30 assist plateau, and both occurrences led to wins. The Lakers also had 14 fastbreak points which were on par with their elite season average.
While Lonzo led the team with 11 assists, it was more remarkable that eight out of eleven Lakers logged an assist.
