The Future Is Bright

Now let’s take a look at the young Lakers who are definitely staying for the future – Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, and Lonzo Ball. While Brandon Ingram continues to improve in all categories across the board, even shooting percentages, he struggled last night against the Nuggets.

He only scored 13 points on a poor 5-for-13 shooting. While this was disappointing, the second year pro displayed his aggressiveness by hauling in five rebounds and six assists. As the Lakers continue to grow it looks as though Ingram will be the mental leader for the team.

Kyle Kuzma, however, had another phenomenal night as he totaled 17 points. The power forward struggled to grab rebounds as he only finished with three, but they may also be due to the fact that his outside shot was falling. Kuzma ended the night shooting 63.6 percent from the field and 75 percent from deep.

Lonzo “Triple Double” Ball was back. This time the rookie failed to shoot above 50 percent with his triple-double, but that did not matter because he got the win. Ball showcased his all-around versatility as he had team-highs in rebounds and assists with 16 and 11. The 16 rebounds were also a career-high for the rookie and his 11 assists were his third-highest of the season.

Zo’s assists were even more impressive considering he only had two turnovers. Even though he coughed up the ball twice, he made up for it with two blocks on the defensive end. He would go on to finish the night with 11 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists.

As the Lakers continue to grow with their youth, let’s hope they can pull out a win on Tuesday when they take on the Chicago Bulls.
