Defense

The Lakers have had a few issues with their style of play this year, but the team has stayed strong defensively. They rank top ten in blocks and steals per game, and rank 11th for opponent shooting percentages. Moreover, the team also ranks fifth in opponent turnovers per game.

Last night’s matchup against the offensive juggernaut of Warriors was a true test for the team’s defense and they prevailed. The team finished with 11 steals, five blocks, and forced 22 turnovers. Additionally, they played great perimeter defense as Klay Thompson was the only Warrior who shot 50 percent from deep.

The team’s defense allowed them to almost win the game as they pushed it to overtime. They also did a phenomenal job of slowing Golden State’s dynamic duo as neither KD or Curry were able to shoot 50 percent from the field. If the Lakers’ defense can keep up its work, we may see some wins in the near future.
