LOS ANGELES, CA – OCTOBER 02: Alex Caruso (Sean M. Haffey/Getty Images) /

PG/SG Alex Caruso (Rookie/Texas A&M)

Caruso shined under the spotlight during a Summer League game against the Sacramento Kings where he dropped 18 points and nine assists. Luckily for him, he stood out enough to sign a two-way contract with the Lakers.

I have never been a fan of Alex Caruso. Like Trail Blazers power forward Zach Collins, Caruso has only shined once or twice, ever. I’ve been a huge critic of Caruso. He turns the ball over on a consistent basis and does not excel on defense (122.4 DEF RTG). The fact that the Lakers sought out to even sign Alex has been questionable, at best.

As of the moment, Caruso is getting his reps for the South Bay Lakers. There is still not enough NBA tape for me to watch to get a full definite report on him, but it has been ugly. Until I’m proven wrong, Caruso permanently belongs in the G-League.
