MEMPHIS, TN – JANUARY 15: Brook Lopez

– Brook Lopez

One of the most disappointing players for the Lakers this season has been Brook Lopez. As one of the best offensive centers in the NBA with the Brooklyn Nets, Lopez has not lived up to that with the Lakers.

A reason why the Lopez might be struggling with the Lakers is because of the pace that they play at. As mostly a half-court player, Lopez has been a complete non-factor in some games for the Lakers. His ability to hit three-pointers has helped the Lakers in a few games, but Lopez’s game offers a lot more than just shooting three-pointers.

With Ball and KCP out, the Lakers should slow things down and run the offense through Lopez when he is on the court. Establishing Lopez on the block against the Pacers could open things up for the rest of the team on the offensive end.

In the last four games, Lopez hasn’t reached double figures in any of them. This is something that is unacceptable for a player of Lopez’s caliber. Against the Pacers, the Lakers should be focused on getting the ball to Lopez early and often. If Lopez is able to score 20 points, the Lakers’ offense would instantly look much better.
