Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Reasons to pursue DeMarcus Cousins
Better Supporting Cast
Sorry to any Sacramento Kings fans who are reading this, but this section is a chastisement on the continual dysfunction within the organization.
DeMarcus Cousins stuck to a franchise who failed to support him. DeMarcus was the player to lead the Kings back to the playoffs, which they continue to miss up to this day. The Kings decided to surround him with busts and failed to give him any reason on why he needed to believe that they were headed in the right direction.
The list of Sacramento Kings busts include, but are not limited to: Jimmer Fredette, Thomas Robinson, Nik Stauskas, and Ben McLemore. The list of players Sacramento should have drafted include, but are not limited to: Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, Devin Booker, and the list goes on. You can argue Sacramento never went to the playoffs. Unless you are LeBron James, there are not many reasons to think Cousins would have made it.
The Lakers team has possible All-Star and future superstar talent in Ingram and Kuzma. The beneficiary of signing DeMarcus Cousins would be Lonzo Ball. Lonzo does not need to score to be efficient.
Ball has already shown that his unselfishness and team play benefits the Lakers night in and night out. Ball’s abilities would further improve under Cousins, and they could be a top guard-big man duo in the league.
