Jayson Tatum

Lakers fans, for the most part, have been very happy with their top pick from the 2017 NBA Draft. The Celtics have also been happy with their top pick, Jayson Tatum.

Tatum’s role was expanded almost immediately with the injury to free agency Gordon Hayward. With Hayward sidelined, Tatum was asked to take on a bigger role and he has responded magnificently.

Coming out of Duke after his freshman season, there were some people that believed that Tatum could be the No. 1 overall pick. He had the most polished offensive game despite his young age and has showcased it throughout the season.

Tatum comes into the game averaging 13.7 points per game. He is making an impressive 45.1 percent from the 3-point line and 49.2 percent overall, both very impressive marks for any player, let alone a rookie. Tatum also averages 5.5 rebounds per game, a very good number for a small forward.

In the first matchup against the Lakers, Tatum played only nine minutes because of an injury. It didn’t cost him any more time, as he returned to play in the following game. He showed off some of his offensive repertoire in that game, as he made all three of his free throw attempts despite barely playing.
