Los Angeles Lakers on right track, must stay the course
It takes time for ‘Showtime’
These things take time. These aren’t your daddy’s Lakers. They’re not even the Lakers of your time. It sounds redundant and dated to say “we’re used to winning” or “championship or bust.” It’s 2018, and the Lakers’ brass has drafted the core of a product Lakers fans are cheering on today.
Although the Lakers have a sub .500 record, they’re more or less on par with what has been expected of them. Las Vegas has them winning about 33 games.
Major factors like Ingram recognizing his potential as a closer, or Kuzma’s stellar ROY campaign, or Lonzo’s role as the glue to it all collectively adds to the excitement of what’s brewing and what’s to come in the next few years. A win against Boston is just the cherry on top.
Going 7-5 in January with three games left to go, the Lakers will need to finish off the month away from Los Angeles. February only has 10 games, but seven of them are also on the road.
The Lakers are on a decent roll, but like the agenda in December, the schedule during February and the second half of the season will be a test of their mental toughness and growth. Growth that stems from their youthful fearlessness which will allow them to get to the next step.
