– Improves 3-point shooting
One of the most glaring weaknesses for the Lakers this season has been their three-point shooting. In the NBA, the game has moved more and more away from the basket toward the three-point line. Due to the recent success of the Golden State Warriors and there fun style of play, it has caught on around the league.
Coming into the season, it was clear that the Lakers weren’t going to be a good three-point shooting team. The roster didn’t have many known sharpshooters, and that has certainly been proven true. So far this season, the Lakers have the worst team three-point percentage in the NBA.
Even though Thomas didn’t shoot the ball well for the Cavaliers, he is a 36.3 percent three-point shooter from beyond the arc for his career, and that will help the Lakers. Even though he isn’t a sharpshooter from deep, he isn’t afraid to shoot three-pointers, and he will help stretch the floor for the Lakers.
When Lonzo Ball does come back, he can be deadly with shooters on the floor with him. Thomas will certainly help the Lakers improve from beyond the arc, and that could be something that results in some more wins down the stretch.
