Takeaway No. 1: Shooting Lights Out

The Lakers offense was unstoppable throughout the road trip. In the four games, the Lakers averaged 120.8 points per game, winning by an average of 11.5 points per game. Los Angeles handled their business and they were on fire offensively.

Shooting has been a problem for the Lakers throughout the season, as they are one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the NBA. Los Angeles is second to last in the NBA in 3-point percentage, knocking down 34.5 percent from deep. That number was much worse before these last four games.

On the road trip, the Lakers were unconscious from deep. They connected at a percentage that even the Golden State Warriors would be impressed by. The Lakers knocked down 63-of-134, equaling out to 47 percent.

Lonzo Ball and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope both knocked down multiple 3-pointers in every game they played. Brook Lopez also knocked down 42.1 percent from deep.

In addition to the impressive 3-point shooting, the Lakers also shot the ball well from the foul line. Much like the 3-point line, the Lakers have struggled from the charity stripe all season as well.

The Lakers are last in the NBA, making only 70.1 percent of their foul shots. That is also a number that improved during the road trip. Los Angeles made 70-of-92 from the foul line, good for 76.1 percent. Still not great, but much improved.

The scorching percentage from the 3-point line is unlikely to continue, but improving upon their season percentage would be a nice thing to see. Continuing to improve their shooting percentages will help the Lakers win more games down the stretch. Hopefully, this hot shooting can be sustained.
