Reason No. 3 – LeBron is the coach, doesn’t respond well to coaches, wants complete control

LeBron James is the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers plain and simple. He systematically got rid of head coach David Blatt when he was done with playing for him, opting for his assistant coach Tyronn Lue.

Rumors surrounded the move, but most understood the reason: LeBron would have control of the team with Lue at the helm. At one point James pushed Blatt out of the way to argue with the referee. Do we want this behavior???

There have been times you see James coaching over Lue on the bench. True he is a great on-court coach as I pointed out a floor dictator.

Just recently, coach Lue had to step away from the NBA for a week due to “Persistent health problems.” But the timing was just way too transparent. The announcement came shortly after LeBron was seen yelling at Lue on the bench.

The team sited the health issues in a little more detail, “Chest pains and other troubling symptoms, compounded by a loss of sleep, throughout the year. Despite a battery of tests, there have been no conclusions as to what the exact issue is.”

We don’t know for sure his relationship with LeBron was the reason, but it is really too coincidental.

Coach Walton is a coach who loves to coach. His team of coaches is completely dialed in and get along great, most have ties back to their college days at the University of Arizona and are disciples of the Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson. Walton is also a protege of fellow Wildcat and NBA Championship coaches Steve Kerr and Phil Jackson. Walton did not sign up to have a star player-coach on his team. LeBron is so used to being in charge on the Cavs, in my opinion, that it will be hard to dial it back and there will be clashes.

As for July 1st approaches, I really hope Lakers fans will come around and stop pulling for James to come to Los Angeles. Perhaps he would be better suited on the Clippers where they are starting from scratch pretty much with Jerry West paving the way?

I am on the “keep Randle, get some exciting glue guys and a couple of floor generals and continue building” train. I also think the Lakers could benefit significantly from adding Scott Machado to the roster as he proved he is a vocal floor general who is familiar with at least five of the current Lakers.
