Los Angeles Lakers: LaVar Ball likes relationship with front office
By Nick Ziegler
Recently, LaVar Ball talked about his relationship with the management of the Los Angeles Lakers.
There has been a lot said about the relationship between LaVar Ball and the Los Angeles Lakers organization. Ball is one of the most outspoken parents of a player we have ever seen, and some of his comments have caused quite the stir.
With Ball spending a lot of time overseas with his other two sons, there wasn’t a lot of talk about Lonzo and the Lakers in the second half of the season. However, LaVar’s criticism of Luke Walton might have crossed a line and put Lonzo in an awkward position.
Recently, LaVar talked about his relationship with Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka on ESPN Los Angeles. Here’s what he had to say via Corey Hansford of LakersNation.com.
"“I love Magic and Rob for one reason, man. I can talk to them down to earth. They’re not going to try to switch things around. They’re going to listen to what I’m saying. I’m going to listen to what they’re saying.”"
The comments made by Ball are certainly pretty positive and encouraging about his relationship with the front office of the Lakers. When the Lakers drafted Lonzo, they knew that they would have to deal with some of the distractions that came with him.
However, above all else, both the Lakers and LaVar want Lonzo to be successful. In his rookie season, Lonzo missed a lot of time due to injuries, but he was very productive when he was on the court.
With a big offseason coming up for the Lakers, there could be a lot of comments still to come from LaVar. We have already heard him publicly say that Lonzo is better than multiple All-Stars in the NBA, and bold comments like that could be something that stars don’t want to deal with.
