Los Angeles Lakers: Why a youth movement should be embraced
Brandon Ingram
Every time the topic of Brandon Ingram’s development comes up, there is always one person I like to refer to, Giannis Antetokounmpo. I use this comparison because I honestly feel like Brandon can reach this sort of potential.
Along with Randle and Kuzma, Brandon Ingram also averaged 16.1 points per game. He improved his efficiency this season, raising his field goal percentage from 40 percent in his rookie year to 47 percent this year.
Brandon Ingram is only 6’9″ compared to the 6’11” height of the Greek Freak, but much like Giannis, Brandon has an incredibly long wingspan at 7’3 and that has allowed him to be very effective around the rim.
This season for Brandon Ingram was highlighted by a 32-point performance against the defending champion Golden State Warriors on November 29, 2017. Ingram was seemingly going back and forth against Kevin Durant, who also had 29 points in that game.
There were a lot of times during this season where I felt like Brandon Ingram could have been more assertive. At some points, it seemed like he was a bit discouraged.
However, if he continues to work on his game and attacks the weight room this offseason, I have no doubt he can have a true breakout season next year.
