4. Georgia Tech G, Josh Okogie

Josh Okogie is someone Lakers fans should get acclimated with. He fits the profile of the type of player they want on their team, especially in the backcourt. Okogie is someone that the Lakers will have on their board for their first-round draft pick.

Okogie declared for the draft after his sophomore season at Georgia Tech. While some of his shooting numbers aren’t great, Okogie was the go-to option for a Yellow Jackets team that lacked many scoring options. As a result, he was forced into some bad shots, but with an improved supporting cast, his shooting numbers should improve.

Okogie showed a decent jumper, knocking down 38.2 percent of his 3-point attempts. What teams will like is his relentlessness attacking the basket. He averaged 6.6 free throws per game in his career at Georgia Tech, making 77.7 percent of them. In his sophomore season, Okogie averaged 18.2 points per game.

Okogie also dominated the 2018 NBA Combine. He has a 7-foot wingspan and 42-inch vertical leap. That kind of explosive athleticism would play well alongside Lonzo Ball in the open court. He has the profile of a good defender as well. Given his length, he can defend multiple positions.

Okogie is an intriguing prospect. He has a chance to develop into a very good two-way player. He has a chance to get selected right outside of the lottery. If he slips later into the first round, the Lakers need to seriously consider selecting him. He is tailor made for the uptempo pace the Lakers want to play and he would give the team another versatile defender in the backcourt.
