– Rises on the big stage

One of the most appealing traits about DiVincenzo was his ability to rise to the occasion in the biggest game of his career. In a great matchup in the 2018 NCAA Championship, Villanova was looking to wrap up a great tournament run against a talented Michigan team.

For most of the season, Villanova was arguably the best team in college basketball despite not being the top-ranked team. However, against Michigan, they were facing arguably the hottest team in the country, as they had a lot of momentum after the Big 10 tournament.

In the final game, Donte DiVincenzo arguably was the best player on the court that night, and he was certainly the spark the Villanova needed. In the win, DiVincenzo totaled 31 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the floor and 5-for-7 shooting from beyond the arc.

On a team that had a lot of talent and a few other potential first round picks, DiVincenzo was the one that stepped up on the big stage and had one of the best games of his career. Even though he didn’t start often for Villanova, DiVincenzo played starter minutes off the bench and was one of their best players. For scouts, see a player step up in the clutch is certainly an appealing trait.
