4. Villanova PG, Jalen Brunson

The Lakers used the No. 2 overall pick on Lonzo Ball last year. While point guard isn’t a huge need for the team, the backcourt in general needs an upgrade in talent and depth. Jalen Brunson would provide that.

Brunson is a proven winner. He helped Villanova win two NCAA Championships in his three years with the team. This past season, Brunson was the leader of the team as the Wildcats ran through their opponents.

Brunson had an excellent season. He took home the Big East Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year, Wooden Award, Bob Cousy Award, Sporting News Player of the Year, and was a consensus All-American. All the recognition was well earned, as Brunson averaged 18.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 0.9 steals per game.

His versatility offensively is impressive. He can post up with ease and knocks down jumpers with great efficiency. Brunson can also run an offense. The only thing really holding Brunson back is his lack of athleticism defensively and lack of size. However, Brunson more than makes up for it with his sky-high basketball IQ and competitiveness.

At the very least, Brunson will become a really good backup point guard that can step into the starting lineup in a pinch. His shooting ability profiles as someone that can play off the ball as well as run the offense.
